Michael Clemons

Michael "Pinball" Clemons
Nov. 26 & 27, 2009

Being a winner on and off the field -- these are the types of touchdowns Michael “Pinball” Clemons is making these days as he spends his time encouraging youth and adults alike to be leaders and to display courage in daily living. An icon of sporting excellence, community leadership and personal integrity, Clemons may be known as one of the best athletes Canada has ever known through his spectacular CFL career with the Toronto Argonauts, but his real legacy may well lie with the thousands of people he has inspired, both on and off the field.

Clemons has an undying commitment to community – especially to youth – and he volunteers with countless causes including the Argo’s Stop the Violence Campaign, their Don’t be a Bully – Be a Friend school program, and numerous programs focused on curbing violence. What inspires Clemons to bring this message to so many? His personal story of how domestic abuse affected his extended family is compelling, heart-wrenching, and unforgettable.

It is impossible to overstate just how dynamic and how energizing Michael Clemons is on stage. Contrasting boundless “pinball”-like energy with moments of quiet dignity, he engages audience members in a way that is unforgettable and often emotional.

On Nov. 26, 2009, at Calgary’s Bravest Men Gala, join Clemons at Calgary Counselling Centre's 2009 Bravest Men Events, as he challenges all of us to be leaders in our community, to be winners in life, and above all.... to demonstrate courage in combating domestic abuse and violence.

Justin Berry
Oct.23 & 24, 2008

At 13, Justin was lured by pedophiles into sexual performances in front of a home web cam; beginning at that age and for the next five years, Justin operated for-pay pornographic web sites featuring his own images. In 2005, debilitated by drug use and exploitation by men who frequented his site, Justin finally turned away from this secret life, and has since dedicated himself to combating the scourge of child pornography.

Justin - who attracted national attention with his testimony before Congress about his experiences – will discuss how any kid could be led down a path of self-destruction. His story was featured in a front-page article in the New York Times in December, 2005, as well as on Oprah Winfrey, the Today show, Good Morning America and numerous other programs.
