When can I book an appointment? Office Hours

Calgary Counselling Centre tries to accommodate the busy schedules of our clients by booking daytime, evening, and Saturday counselling appointments. However, there is typically more demand for evening and Saturday sessions than we can accommodate. We appreciate your flexibility in attending counselling sessions before work, during lunch, or in the afternoon.

How do I get to Calgary Counselling Centre?

There is pay parking available for clients who wish to drive.

The Centre is strategically located near public transport with easy bus and C-Train access. For information on public transport schedules please call Calgary Transit at (403) 262-1000, use the new Google mapping device for Calgary Transit or visit Calgary Transit's web site.

Please note, as of February, 2009, the new LRT station at 7 Avenue and 7 Street S.W. is now open.  If you are coming from the south or from the N.E., you will get off the C-train at the new station at 7 Street alongside the Scotiabank. Walk north up 7 Street, turn left onto 6 Avenue and walk the two blocks along to our office.


Privacy and Confidentiality:

Privacy and confidentiality are key concepts of counselling and must be protected at all costs. Calgary Counselling Centre is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information. The information you provide to us will be used to assist in the proper administration of counselling services and to keep you informed about our programs and services. We do not release client names or information under any circumstances unless required by law.

We are, however, obligated to report cases such as the following:

  • Child neglect or abuse is suspected or known.
  • Another person's life is threatened or endangered.
  • Breach of probation.
  • Court order

Fees and Payment

Income is never a barrier to service at Calgary Counselling Centre. Our programs (with the exception of the Marriage Preparation Program) operate on a sliding fee scale that adjusts according to annual gross family income, availability of medical insurance and/or employee assistance programs. The amount of your counselling will be assessed during the initial Intake interview.

Referrals

NO referral is necessary for retaining counselling services at Calgary Counselling Centre. Referrals for counselling may be given by lawyers, educators, courts, employment assistant programs, and/or healthcare professionals. People may self-refer by calling the Centre's Intake Line at 265-4980

Waitlist

We are very proud to report that there is NO WAITLIST at Calgary Counselling Centre. There is also no limit to the amount or frequency of counselling visits. Once you have filled out an Intake form, either over the phone, in person,or via fax your file is assigned to an appropriate counsellor. The appropriate counsellor is assigned to your case the next working day and you will be contacted by your counsellor by phone within 48 hours to book your first session.

Cancellation Policy

Calgary Counselling Centre requests that clients inform their counsellors as soon as possible if they need to change or cancel their appointment. Session fees will be billed to the clients account if the session is not cancelled at least 24 hours before scheduled appointment time.

How do I get into group programs?

To get into any of the Centre's group programs (with the exception of Marriage Preparation Program), the client must first be enrolled in individual counselling. This is to ensure that the client is prepared for the group counselling environment and that the client's particular problem is appropriate for the requested group program. Admittance to the group is at the discretion of the counsellor.

How many counselling sessions will it take to solve my problem?

The number of sessions it takes to bring clients to ultimate solution of their problem varies wildly. It depends on the nature of the problem, the clients' willingness to change, type of therapy, and many other variables. Calgary Counselling Centre places no restriction on number, or frequency of counselling sessions.

How do I volunteer at Calgary Counselling Centre?

To volunteer one simply needs to place a call to the Centre (265-4980) and ask to speak with the Volunteer Coordinator-extension #107. Learn more..

What if I want to change counsellors?

Having the right fit in regard to client-counsellor relationship is important. This relationship will largely dictate the success of counselling. If at any point you, as a client, feel that you require a different counsellor, the Centre will help you find an acceptable fit from our approximately 60 full-time, part-time and contract counsellors.
