In the Media- offering a coordinated media response when domestic violence occurs

CDVC

When family and sexual violence incidents occur, Calgary Counselling Centre is now part of a coordinated media response with the Calgary Domestic Violence Committee (CDVC). This media initiative is one more way Calgary Counselling Centre is aligned with other community members, to respond, treat and end domestic violence in our city.

This summer has seen some terrible incidents of domestic violence. The media team has responded to each incident. By working collaboratively, CDVC looks forward to consistent messaging between organizations to ensure the media will be well-informed and can offer appropriate resources for those in need.

CDVC strives to let Calgarians know domestic violence - in its many forms - is never justified, there are safe avenues for help, and it is up to everyone to play a role in reducing violence in our community.

CDVC works with 17 community partners to provide a coordinated response to violence prevention in Calgary. Representatives include: Alliance to End Violence, Alberta Mental Health Board, Alberta Solicitor General (Probation), Aventa, Calgary Counselling Centre,  Calgary Emergency Women’s Shelter, Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association, Calgary Legal Guidance, Calgary Police Service, Distress Centre, Edan Counselling Associates, HomeFront, Kerby Centre, Peer Support Services for Abused Women, Peter Lougheed Centre, RESOLVE Alberta, YWCA Sheriff King.
