Calgary Counselling Centre Charity Classic celebrates complete success

On the most beautiful day of the summer, Calgary Counselling Centre (CCC) hosted its 5th annual Charity Classic – a success from a variety of perspectives. The temperature wasn't the only thing in our favour. With the largest amount of funds raised to date, complimented by a full roster of sponsors and players, the tournament making it possible for more families in Calgary to access counselling services.

The 5th Annual CCC Charity Classic on Aug. 29, 2011 raised over $45,000 to support children and family programming at the Centre. This support will help CCC change lives.

"Participating in this tournament really brought the Centre's activities to life," says Lorne Carson, partner, Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP – tournament host. "This tournament really connects who we were playing for and what impact the money raised makes. It is organizations like Calgary Counselling Centre that make Calgary a vibrant, safe and healthy community."

Golfers had the opportunity to play the challenging Hawk course at the beautiful Priddis Greens Golf & Country Club. During the tournament, they learned more about Calgary Counselling Centre's work with families, through activities at some of the holes. From puppet shows, to working as a team, to trading compliments, golfers had a few laughs while learning what makes Calgary Counselling Centre treatment programs special.

"I am so impressed how, in just five years, the tournament has grown," says Dale Green, Tournament Co-Chair. "I congratulate the planning committee for selling out the tournament. I thank Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP for hosting the tournament and express gratitude to Priddis Greens Golf & Country Club for providing a beautiful backdrop. To every sponsor, donor and golfer – huge thanks for making the tournament a success."

Since the tournament's inception in 2006, we've hosted nearly 600 golfers and have raised almost $325,000 in direct and residual donations. Every year, the tournament proceeds have translated into service for Calgary Counselling Centre clients.
