managing depression

managing depression Depressive disorders make one feel exhausted, helpless, and hopeless. Such negative thoughts and feelings make some people feel like giving up. It is important to realize that these negative views are a part of the depression and typically do not reflect actual circumstances.

Depression is one of the top reasons people seek help from Calgary Counselling Centre. The Centre has long offered support for depressive disorders through individual counselling, but increasing need for counselling related to depression has prompted the Centre to launch a group program.

This 12-week group for men and women provides a forum where people who are affected by depression can meet to share experiences and coping strategies with others in similar situations. This group is based on the belief that changing the way you think can have a powerful impact on the way you feel. Clients learn to use a variety of techniques to help them better manage current depressive symptoms and help guard against future depressive episodes.
