Dr. William Fals-Stewart is a clinical psychologist whose research has focused on family adjustment in which one or more members have alcohol or drug-use disorders; marital and family therapy with substance-abusing patients, and the effects of substance use and intoxication on intimate partner violence. Since 1992, Dr. Fals-Stewart has authored more than 170 journal articles and book chapters and has made over 300 clinical and scientific presentations of his work at national and international conferences. He has co-authored (with Gorman, Kennedy and Stappenbeck), Behavioral couples therapy for alcoholism and drug abuse: Rationale methods, findings, and future directions , as well as A Handbook of Clinical Family Therapy; Adult Substance Abuse: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. His research has been supported by significant funding from both federal agencies and private foundations, with most funding provided by the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism in the United States. |
