  1. Individual will call (403.265.4980) Calgary Counselling Centre and speak with Education and Training Program Leader who will:

    • Gather and record information regarding the individual and the educational opportunity they are seeking at the agency.

    • Will offer a tour and information session to the interested party:
Tour provides the person with a chance to become familiar with Calgary Counselling Centre prior to formally engaging in the application process.

    • If after the tour, the person wishes to pursue the application process, the Education and Training Program Leader will provide them with an application packet.

    • If it is decided that it would be appropriate for the interested party to have an interview without having a tour, arrangements will be made between the Education and Training Program Leader and the individual.

  2. Individual will complete the documentation requested in the application packet and forward this information to the Education and Training Program Leader.

  3. Upon receipt of the documentation requested in the application packet the Education and Training Program Leader will arrange an interview for the applicant with an appropriate individual from the agency.

  4. Following the interview a consultation will take place between the interviewer and the Education and Training Program Leader and a decision will be reached regarding the application. If further information is desired, a second interview may be requested. However, the norm would be for the person to be advised by telephone regarding their acceptance by the agency within a few days of their interview.

  5. A formal letter of acceptance will be forwarded to the individual and will include their start date and other relevant information.

Individuals interested in pursuing a residency at the Calgary Counselling Centre will follow the same procedure as defined for university students.

The supporting documentation required for a residency application is outlined in the application packet. Once this documentation is received, agency staff will review the applicant’s documentation and an interview will be arranged.

Following this interview, applicants will be notified regarding their application. All admission decisions are final.

Each year we receive a large number of applications for a limited number of spaces in our program. Consequently, many suitable applicants are not selected for admission. At times, applicants may be placed on a wait list. Applicants who have been placed on the wait list will be notified of their status and will be advised of the time of the next available opening .

If applicants have additional questions not covered in this information, please call the Education and Training Program Leader at (403)265-4980.
