2007 Family Violence Conference

Join us for our second annual Family Violence Conference. Four engaging speakers are slated to give you information on the current issues in Family Violence: addictions, individual treatment with offenders and work with couples.

Day 1 - May 3, 2007:

Join the innovative Dr. William Fals-Stewart to benefit from his work with couples dealing with family violence and addictions. You'll learn:

  • to identify assumptions that influence interventions, when addictions and family violence co-exist.
  • assessment tools and strategies to screen for substance use in family violence programs.

Day 2 - May 4, 2007:

Dr. Christopher Murphy is an expert, using individual treatment for domestic violence offenders. He has the key to cognitive-behavioural and motivational treatments for sbusive behaviour in adult relationships. With him, you'll develop clinical skills in applying motivational therapies.

Day 3 - May 5, 2007:

Our final presentation team in this exciting conference is Dr. Sandra M. Stith and Dr. Eric E. McCollum, who will give you:

  • best practices regarding conjoint treatment of couples who have experienced intimate partner violence.
  • an orientation to the Domestic Violence Focused Couples Treatment Program - learn how mindfulness, meditation and motivation interviewing have been incorporated into this treatment program.
